This is still here?

 I woke up this morning and thought "I wonder if that blog I was doing years ago is still there?"

Turns out it is. Wow.

I actually have a few things to write about. General topics will be:

  • Computers
  • Home A/V
  • Digital photography

So I'll roll up my sleeves, hunker down, and write three or four blog posts then forget about this thing again for another few years.

Sounds like a plan!

Douk P1 DAC/Preamp/Headphone Amp review

A few weeks ago I decided to build a fun sound system for my home office (see this post for details). The goal was something that looked interesting, sounded good, and was expandable. The Douk P1 DAC/Preamp/Headphone Amp serves as the centerpiece of the system. After using it for a few weeks, I can say that it is a decent piece of equipment. Things I have on my list to post about

As I mentioned in my post about blog posts, I am trying to get back into updating my blog on a more regular basis. On that note, I have identified a few things that I want to blog about in the near future, and I'll list them here to (hopefully) inspire myself to follow up. Surface RT Annoyances

I've had my Surface RT for a little over a week now. While I have generally been impressed with the device, enough to take it solo on a business trip , I have also discovered a few rough edges. Nothing that I would consider a fatal flaw, but things that bug me nonetheless. Inserting a flash drive does not pop-up a message or take me to the desktop automatically. While the system acknowledges the drive with a USB device attached sound, I am used to Windows either taking me to the drive window or popping up a "what do you want to do" window. Unless I am already at the desktop, I need to switch to see the device activities. Of course you don't need to go to the desktop in order to use a device - if you are using the Photos app and insert a USB drive with photos, it can be accessed without going to the desktop first. Some games act up when playing offline. This is not a Microsoft issue per se - it really depends on the particular game. Actually, most MS games worked
